Personal legands

In the story The Alchemist there is a man named Santiago looking for his personal legend.What is a personal legend and do they even exist. A personal legend is when you have a purpose, a reason for living the hole universe goes by it. It is a job or a lifestyle. I believe that we all have personal legends if we didn't then what is the point of living. What is the purpose of living if you aren't doing anything. The alchemist has a conversation that goes on between a man named Santiago and a king. The boy is just sitting on a bench when an old man ( the king) comes and sits next to the man. They start a conversation over personal legends, and about the book that Santiago was reading. He says that the baker wanted to be a traveler like the boy and that he never actually got to do that because he was a baker.

The conversation goes to when the old man said."It describes peopled inability to choose there own personal legands ,and it ends up saying that everyone belives the worlds greatest lie" But do we ?
